Patiala pants, casual and festive

There is one more Indian garment that I like to wear so very much. It is the Patiala pants. I like the way they look - so cool - and they are the most comfortable thing to have on during hot summer days. Originally the pants were worn by the maharajahs of Patiala (since the name). But of course, women just couldn't miss the opportunity to add this wonderful garment into their own wardrobe. These pants are all about pleats which are stitched in such a way that create a beautiful draping effect. Traditionally they are worn with a short tunic (kurta) that have slits on the both sides, this design allows to see the beauty of the pants. But here I am wearing my red Patiala pants with a Western style blouse which I last wore combined with skinny jeans (here).

The bead necklaces are the symbol of marriage here in Nepal. I have a dozen of them as every year I get a few as a gift from other women during the local Woman's day Teej. Red and green is the favourite combination of colours for Nepalese women.

Will show one more Patiala pants that I have. These are the festive variant. When I saw them in the window I fall in love instantly. They are very voluminous and embellished with embroidery and beads. The photos are from 2010 when I bought this set.

  2. Olga, amongst all the beautiful looks you showed The festive one with the Patalia pants is one I like best. It is absolutely marvellous and you look gorgeous in it!
Patalia pants are very flattering and feminine - although they are men's trousers.
I often wish I have the chance to buy ethic clothes, the colors are more intensive the patterns extraordinary and the style amazing. I should have a look in the online shop you lately mentioned. I think they would deliver to Europe too.
Have a great week, my dear friend!

    1. Of course, a dress is the best option for hot weather here. But if for a change you feel like wearing trousers then these are the most comfortable variant. I notice that some women/girls here wear skinnies or leggings now, that's what I really can't imagine wearing myself at this heat. I suppose they are more tolerate to the climate then me.

  9. If ever a local look went global, then it is this style of pant ... so hot right now, as I'm sure you know! Thought I was in love with the first look, but then the teal and rust set stole my heart completely away. What a beauty you are.

  11. Both pairs of patiala pants are so lovely, I think they're called harem pants in the UK or is that different style? The colours are fantastic too, and suit you beautifully. Casual but oh so glamorous.
