Memorable dress

I am wearing this dress today in the memory of my dear father who succumbed in his battle with cancer exactly 9 years ago. This dress was a gift from him on my birthday, the last birthday we spent together. He passed away just three months later.
Though we didn't look alike in appearance but we were very much similar in character. And I suppose that's why we were close. I was his "darling daughter" and he always pampered me with gifts. He let me do things that I wanted to do, even when my mom was against it. I always knew that he was there to protect me and to help me if any need. It was very hard to lose him and I still miss him. I miss just his presence in this world.

This dress will always stay dear to me and I will never get rid of it, however sentimental it is.

Garnet ring was bought in Moscow; natural multi-gems bangle and pendant are from Jaipur

  1. Dear Olga,
you got a wonderful dress from you father but the most wonderful things you got from him are the memories you have. You still have the feeling of being his beloved daughter: I'm sure not only when you are wearing this beautiful dress but anytime. Thank you for sharing your memories and the pictures of you and your Dad.

  5. Thank you for sharing your dear memories and the photos of you and your dad. This is such a beautiful dress. The jewelry is gorgeous. Although your dad is always in your heart but I believe wearing the dress he is even closer to you. So why should you go rid of the dress, it's not sentimental, it's what I call love.

  13. This story touches me particularly right now because my ex died of cancer a week ago, leaving behind his three children whom he raised on his own. They're now young adults so will be able to take care of themselves now, but they'll miss him forever.
