What to wear for the New Year celebration

Here we are, in 2014! Happy New Year, everybody! My first post of 2014 will be, of course, about what I wore to the New Year's Eve party. This velvet dress in deep dark-blue was a girt from my daughters. It is decorated with big black stones on the upper part that sparkle under light and it makes the dress a perfect choice for such events as New Year celebration. Anyway, I thought it was a bit too open for winter and so, I wore it with a long-sleeved chiffon blouse underneath. To accentuate my waist and to add more sparkle I used a rhinestones belt.

For some fun I wore a "cat ears" headpiece that is decorated with rhinestones as well. I was that sparkling girl there :)

A dance group from India, an Indian Idol finalist singer and a Nepalese rock-band entertained the celebrating crowd.

I don't know where the tradition of wearing silly hats at the New Year celebration comes from. When the time was nearing closer to the midnight everybody started to put those hats on. But this time I decided to be different and to wear silly glasses instead.

With my "cat ears" headpiece I'm taking part in Judith's Hat Attack and also I'm sharing this outfit with Elena's Monday Bloom link-up party

Have a nice day!

  2. Olga, you look fantastic. I love your creativity with sparkles, and the long sleeves you have on are so unique and gorgeous with their lace patches.

I must say, I am also digging the outfit the first singer has on, with the tunic and the leather or faux leather leggings. You still take the cake, though!

  3. Such a gorgeous New Years Eve look! Love the velvet, and I just thought the dress had sheer sleeves, until I read that you had layered it over a blouse. And diamante cats' ears are the perfect accessory, I think!
What a great evening you had. Happy new year to you! xxxx
