Sparkling peacock party dress

New Year Party look

Happy New Year my dear friends and readers! May 2017 bring love, luck and happiness to all of you! According to Chinese horoscope this year is the year of the Rooster. I know, cock and peacock are not same thing but still, they ought to be related somehow. Perhaps, peacock is just a more fancy version of rooster, haha. Why am I talking about this? While choosing what to wear for a New Year party I came upon this dress decorated with a giant embroidered peacock. And I thought, well, it would be nice to welcome year of the cock in a dress depicting a pea-cock... Well, I guess I would wear this dress anyway be it year of the Dragon or any other because it is so beautiful and so sparkly...

Pleated silk skirt and romantic blouse: my Christmas look

Christmas outfit

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. Today I am showing what my Christmas celebration outfit was. It was a mixture of different styles: romantic chiffon blouse paired with a pleated silk maxi skirt and golden sporty boots and  accessorized with Indian bag and colourful necklace.

Dark blue for Valentine's day

Velvet party dress embellished with rainstones

I didn't plan to do any Valentine's outfit post but then...I liked the way I looked and so, I changed my mind, haha...And here it is what I wore yesterday for a dinner out with my husband. I don't dress in red on this day for the simple reason that it is what I am supposed to do. Like, red is a colour of love and passion and so it is a good idea to wear red or pink on the official day of love and romance. But I don't think it is just enough reason to limit myself with what I can wear. So, here I am wearing dark blue instead of red.

Origami birds maxi dress for New Year's Eve party

Happy New Year! May this year bring new bright and colourful experiences and new interesting people into your life and new beautiful clothes into your wardrobe. I hope you all welcomed 2015 in a joyful mood. For the New Year's Eve party I chose to wear this chiffon maxi dress. The upper part of the dress is black with print in kind of origami style and the lower part is in a very bright and cheerful shade of pink. Who'd think I would wear pink?  I've never been a big fan of this colour.

Christmas Eve outfit

Hope you had wonderful Christmas: spent time with family, ate Christmas delicacies, got nice gifts.  And of course, enjoyed wearing new clothes bought specially for this day. Have to confess that I went slightly overboard with delicacies but then it is the only time in the year when mince pies and plum puddings are available, so why not? Also it seems that this season I have weakness for embroidered black dresses. You saw one in my previous post, I wore it for a Christmas party and here is another one that I wore for Christmas eve dinner. Though it is not exactly a dress. I even don't know how to call it...over-dress perhaps? Because you can't wear it on its own, you need something underneath. But it is knitted, black and with embroidery.

Mixed floral patterns dress

On Thursday it was the Day of Russia and we were invited to the Russian embassy for celebration. I chose this dress to wear for the occasion. It combines two different floral prints. The small turquoise flowers print is used only at the front panels of the dress; the rest of the dress is made of the black-with-large-flowers print. Besides there is embroidery and some sequins decoration at the chest area.

Ethnic outfit for ethnic theme dinner

On Monday a new year (2071 by the way) started here in Nepal according to the local calendar. On the Eve we went to celebrate to a Rana-era-inspired restaurant famous for its unique interior and delicious traditional food. For such a place I wanted to wear something ethnic. And chose these red Patiala pants that you're already seen (here) and a new kurta-vest set from Biba. When I saw it in their boutique, instantly I liked the vibrant purple colour of the kurta but the vest turned out to be simply irresistible for me.

What to wear for the New Year celebration

Here we are, in 2014! Happy New Year, everybody! My first post of 2014 will be, of course, about what I wore to the New Year's Eve party. This velvet dress in deep dark-blue was a girt from my daughters. It is decorated with big black stones on the upper part that sparkle under light and it makes the dress a perfect choice for such events as New Year celebration. Anyway, I thought it was a bit too open for winter and so, I wore it with a long-sleeved chiffon blouse underneath. To accentuate my waist and to add more sparkle I used a rhinestones belt.

I am not an American but still I do celebrate the 4th of July. Why? Because it is my birthday!
I spent the day with my family.

Little floral print dress and my hometown's birthday

I was born in a small town that yesterday celebrated its 55th birthday. Festivities were organised on this occasion and I invite you to have a walk along the streets of the young town. For the event I wore this little flowery dress that I bought during my 10-hours wait in Moscow. Actually I was shocked with the prices there, they were even higher than in London, and managed to find just this cute dress that was of good quality (50% polyester and 50% silk) and at affordable price. The dress is of a Russian brand and that is why it was cheaper.

How I welcomed 2013

In my country it is believed that the way you welcome the New Year will affect the whole year. Means, if you are happy and laugh much then the year will be same - happy and joyful; if you are sad or worried, expect many problems in the coming year. So everybody tries to have as much fun at the New Year's Eve celebrations as possible.
According to this belief I should expect a good year ahead. I enjoyed the evening and actually didn't notice the time had passed. There were friends, there was music, there was performance, there was much food and wine, and there was dancing.
