Super wide printed pants

Super wide trousers with crop top

These new trousers of mine are super super wide in legs. I don't know whether they fit into palazzo pants category... usually those have more straight cut along the length while these one have quite a significant width difference between upper and bottom parts. You can easily take these pants for a skirt.

What to wear at work: cracking office dress codes

what to wear at work business formal look

*this is not a sponsored post
I am not a big fan of posts starting with "how to dress for..." or "what to wear to...". For me they seem rather disrespectful as if my readers are not smart enough to figure out themselves what to wear for a walk in the park or how to dress for a cocktail party. However, there is one area where one can indeed feel uncertain or confused about "what to" and "how to". I am talking about dressing at work. No one wants to provoke perplexity of one's colleagues or displease one's boss with inappropriate look. Everybody wants to look smart, fashionable and in accordance with environment - not underdressed or overdressed. And the line between "under", "over" and "appropriate" can be a very thin line indeed. Sometimes you are confused for yourself and sometimes it is your other half that is at a loss and asks you for help (happened with me many times). Browsing the net in search of the suitable "how to" and "what to" can be really time consuming...Besides, there are many incompetent advice-givers outthere nowadays, whose advice can I trust? So, no wonder when T.M.Lewin  sent me their guidelines to work dressing I agreed to write a post featuring their graphic.

Cute owls dress

Owls print mini dress worn over orange skinnies

Finally, autumn has arrived in Kathmandu too. But it is not windy, rainy and cold here. It is warm and sunny, really nice and pleasant weather. And everything is still green here but I'm wearing an outfit in traditional autumn colours today.

Indian motifs jeans

Indian motifs jeans, white top and india inspired accessories

Those who know my love for everything Indian will understand why I couldn't resist buying these jeans. They are from Desigual and their price was a bit higher than I usually am ready to pay for jeans. Anyway, the Indian style bright and colourful details plus perfect fit made me change my mind. And I have to say that I simply love these jeans...Here I am wearing them with simple white top from Indian Biba accessorized with Indian inspired bracelets and a necklace from Monsoon. Perfect match!

Shorts over tights

Black shorts over opaque tights, chunky shoes, 70s hat

I am not a big fan of shorts, I mean "short" shorts. They seem just a bit too frivolous for my taste. Will never wear ones on their own but inspired by one of Curtise's latest posts I decided to try the shorts-over-tights look. And have to say that I liked it and felt quite comfortable and at ease.

Wearing bright colours (yet again)

Global Desi gypsy palazzo pants, purple top and wooden necklace

After showing you bright seven-coloured Indian lehenga choli set in my previous post yet another multi-coloured outfit today. This one is more casual though. Perhaps there are less than seven colours in this look but definitely more than three: purple, pink, yellow, turquoise...I don't know whether there is a special name for the garment I am wearing as the bottom part of my outfit. It is a wrap skirt + pants combination. I loved it instantly. The fabric is light and thin and among all those splashes of colours there are elephants in the print as well.

Casual summer look

White cotton top, brown linen trousers and wooden necklace

You've seen my colourful wooden necklaces recently when I wore it with a black crop top and a peasant skirt. Obviously the best background for this accessory is black or white. And today I wear one of the necklaces again, with a white cotton top this time. Again a very casual look - the top and the brown linen trousers, but the necklace, as well as multi-coloured bamboo earrings and raspberry red shoes add a bit more interest to it.

Baroque print cropped pants

White cotton top over baroque print cropped pants

It has been raining for the whole week, with occasional thunder and hailstones. Yesterday was the first fully sunny day and finally I could take a few photos. We went out for lunch and my look was rather simple and casual: a white cotton top over baroque print cropped pants. The pants are a recent purchase as well as the sandals. The purse was gifted to me some time ago but it was the first time that I actually used it.

Knitted mini dress and long cardigan

To tell you the truth I am not that good in identifying different shades of same colour. Do you know how many shades of red are there? 57 according to Wikipedia. Seriously? At best I can differ just a few. But there is Turkey Red, Venetian Red, Chilli Red and Fire Engine Red. There is Carmin, Crimson, Cardinal, Ruby and Lust. Are there really people who can differ one from another? I wonder. Anyway, I am wearing today two garments in two different shades of red: a knitted mini dress (marsala?) and a no buttons mohair cardigan (berry-red?).

Black and white stripes dress

The calendar says it is still summer but the autumn's breath is in the air. It is already too cold for sleeveless maxi dresses or for bare legs. But warm enough for this knitted tunic to wear with skinny jeans. Minimalistic black and white look today. The stripes of different width combined in different directions create an interesting pattern.

Jungle bomber jacket: three ways to wear

I am not a big fan of bomber jackets but when I saw this one I simply couldn't resist strong urge to own it. First of all, it is made of light delicate polyester. Secondly, and it is obvious, the print is so catchy and just the kind that I always like. The back of the jacket is especially beautiful: there is sunset (or perhaps sunrise), there is a leopard and there is a tiger. The splashes of purple I imagine to be some gigantic tropical orchids.

Zebra-fashionista top

Though I usually prefer bright colours and prints but sometimes I feel like wearing white. We all know that it is a perfect colour for sunny days because it reflects sunlight. One feels cooler even by just looking at someone dressed in white. Perhaps it is because white is associated with such really cold things as snow and ice-cream? Anyway, the monotony and purity of white in my today's outfit is broken by this really cute print of a very fashionable zebra in a turquoise cardigan.

Perfect for summer: white cotton blouse

Last night I saw a dream...I was shopping and in a pile of sale clothes I found a bundle of money. Took it, came home, counted...Man! There was 3000 $! Shame, but such lucky things happen with me only in dreams. In reality every cent must be earned.
To the outfit now. This blue maxi skirt seems to become one of my favourite pieces this summer. You've already seen me wearing it here and here and today is a new combination, with a white cotton blouse.

Wearing palazzo pants

Though monsoon has started here the weather is still pretty hot - around 30, plus the rains have brought humidity. Yet I see many girls here wear skinny jeans. I just wonder how they can bear it. The only trousers that I can bear in this weather are the palazzo pants. They are cool and comfortable to wear on hot summer days. No wonder I have several of them in my wardrobe. Here are three different looks with three different palazzo pants.

Tattoo Convention: dress and accessories

This weekend the 4th International Tattoo Convention has being held here in Kathmandu. There are over 100 professional tattoo artists from 22 different countries at the event, so anybody who has dreamed about getting a tattoo by an artist from Japan, UK, Italy, France, USA, India can easily do that just by coming at the Convention, they all are there in one place. I have no plans of getting a tattoo yet but I did go to the gathering. Actually, this year it was my second time. The first time I attended the Convention two years ago. I see tattooing as a form of art, I enjoy looking at different designs that people inked on their bodies. I know many are still prejudiced against the tattooed persons, they associate them with criminals and violence. Historically tattooing was indeed done by criminals, sex workers or sailors. But it is not like this any more. Though some guys did look a bit tough there was not the slightest hint of rudeness in their behavior. All were polite, smiley, friendly. Nobody objected to being photographed.
At such event you expect at least some people would be dressed and accessorized a bit differently. Below are a few photographs of interesting outfits and accessories that I caught with my camera. And here what I wore for the Convention: black skinnies, a tiger print t-shirt and a hand-made bracelet-and-ring set.

Cat-woman t-shirt for picnic in the hills

On Monday it was the first day of the new year here and so it was a day off. On this days the Nepalese like to go somewhere up in the hills for a picnic. And so did we. We went to a place called Kakani, it is at a height of 2073 m. The place offers cooler, fresher air and breathtaking views of the Himalayas...when the weather is sunny. Alas, at that day the sky was grey and gloomy and it looked like it was going to rain. So, no breathtaking views of the snowy peaks. Anyway, the place was nice and though the views were not that stunning they were pleasant enough to enjoy them.

16.3.14

Little red dress

These are last days that I'm wearing sleeves, tights and boots, especially the latter. It is getting too hot for them. The dress is from Monsoon, cotton, very simple and casual, but the red colour makes it a beauty in my opinion. What else I like about it that it has pockets. Here I accessorized it with multi-stoned beads necklace. There are lapis lazuli, garnet, amethyst, tiger eye and some other semi-precious stones in it. It was custom made for me here in Nepal. Didn't cost much considering its length and amount of stones.

Going androgynous with animal print

Have wanted to dress like this for some time but had no right hat. And finally, I found it. It is from H&M and the good thing is that it is cotton, so I'll be able to wear it in local climate without my head being steamed. The animal print top is not a blouse and not exactly a jacket, but something in between. Usually I paired it with black full length pants but today I decided to wear this grey cropped pants.

LOVE bag

In anticipation of Valentine's day I bought myself not a heart-printed or red-coloured dress but this LOVE bag instead. The yellow pattern along with the word itself is embroidered on black leather and creates nice visual contrast. Actually I didn't plan to buy particularly Love bag and didn't search for it on purpose. But when I saw it, I liked it and thought "why not".

Hope you're enjoying your day!

Oriental print jacket

Spring indeed has come to Kathmandu. Sweaters are needed only early in the morning or late in the evening. And at day time a blazer or a light jacket is just the right thing to wear. Here I am looking very casual in skinnies, a t-shirt and a jacket but the oriental print of the jacket - all those flowers and cranes - makes the whole look springy and not so boring.
