Tropical print maxi dress

Tropical open shoulder maxi dress

It's summer finally! And it means that I can wear my new tropical maxi dress! Such colourful tropical print is perfect for wearing at some sea resort during a vacation but why to wait for a vacation, why to wait for a trip to the seaside? Wear it here and now! All you need is just warm enough weather. It is enough that the dress has a vacation vibe, it reminds me of beaches and sea breeze and bright tropical sceneries.

Sequined white dress

sequined white reception dress

There is no much styling in this look but the dress is too beautiful not to show it off. It's from Ted Baker and it was gifted to me. I wish it was just a size smaller, would have fitted better then but even on the looser side it still looks quite good on me. The dress has the 20th vibe and is embellished with sequins all over which create beautiful sparkling effect with every move you do, especially under the light of artificial evening illumination. Of course, such a dress requires a special occasion and I wore it for a recent wedding reception (as the wedding was Indian, the white colour of the dress was quite acceptable).

Stripy open shoulder summer dress

loose stripy summer dress with open shoulders

When it's hot outside I prefer to wear dresses instead of pants, and preferably loose dresses for that matter (in spite of them making me look bigger then I am). And this stripy dress from Indian brand Fusion Beats works perfectly for sunny summer days. Besides being of loose silhouette it has open shoulders and nice loose sleeves. The broken line of the hem adds additional interest to the design of the dress. My only complain is fabric. It's not cotton or linen which I would prefer but 100% polyester.

Vintage vibe modern look gingham dress

black and white gingham check dress

I have never been a big fan of checks, especially of gingham checks. Throughout my whole life I remember owning only one gingham dress, and it was in my 20s. It was a bright blue-purple checks dress and I really loved it. Also I remember having a black-and-white checks shirt and... that's it. Not much. But recently I have come upon a gingham dress that totally fall in love with literally from the first sight. And this is the dress I'm showing here today. Look how happy this dress's making me:)

Chinese print dress

Chinese print summer dress

It's October but the weather here is still nice and summery and let you wear light sleeveless dresses. Like the one in this post. I got it from my daughter who found it in a charity shop in London. It was a bit too big for her but has a perfect fit for me.

Vintage linen dress

Vintage early 70s linen dress with embroidery

Another linen dress today. This one is an authentic vintage item, the dress used to be my mom's and she wore it in the early 1970s. Simple fabric, simple silhouette, pale blue colour...this simplicity makes the floral embroidery at the top part of the dress really stand out.

Blue linen maxi dress

Summer linen maxi dress

Hello everybody! I hope you haven't forgotten me, at least not completely. I was on holidays in my homeland Belarus. At first I has planned to make a few posts from there but then...got lazy and kind of didn't feel like posting. So, I decided to take a complete break from blogging as well as from social media life. And it was good, somewhat refreshing. Anyway, I am back and hopefully will resume regular posting. And in my today's post I'm featuring a linen maxi dress that I bought in Belarus. My country is known for its linen production and one can find a big choice of linen clothes of good quality for affordable price. So, this dress is 100% linen. It is prone to wrinkle, of course, but not as much as one could expect, not in annoying manner.

Rainbow cows summer dress

Rainbow cows print summer dress

Monsoon has arrived here. The temperature is high as well as humidity. It's hard to breathe in such conditions and one's body experiences a certain level of discomfort. In such weather I want to wear something light and loose...but pretty of course. And this dress meets all the three requirements: it is made from light thin cotton; it has a loose silhouette and thanks to all those multi-coloured cows it looks super pretty!

Embassy reception look

Karen Millen formal dress
When we were invited to the Russian embassy reception to celebrate Russia's independence day I thought about wearing this dress straight away. My daughter brought it to me in February and I hadn't had a chance to wear it yet. It's elegant and beautiful, made from satin and decorated with embroidery. But the main thing in such type of dresses is a fit because if it's wrong it will not look good. And what can I say? This dress fits me perfectly, as if it was made for me.

Ethnic summer look

Ethnic Indian summer dress with wide trousers from Biba

Today another ethnic look, a cotton set from Biba: a floral print dress, wide ankle length pants and a dupatta. Sometimes I like to wear Indian clothes especially when they are that pretty and stylish as this ensemble. I don't understand those who live in a foreign country and never ever try on what local folks wear. It is always fun for me and I really enjoy wearing ethnic clothes.

Kimono style jacket

Zara oriental kimono style jacket worn over navy blue dress

This oriental print kimono style light jacket I bought last summer. I like it on its own but as it turned out it is very hard to find what to wear this thing with: it's short and loose, with that deep v-neckline and a zipper in front. It doesn't look nice with jeans or any pants (or at least I don't like how it looks) and it goes well only with pencil style skirts but then again, you need to find a suitable top. So far I found only two dresses in my wardrobe that I can wear along with this jacket, and one of them I am showing today.

Knit dress in bright copper

Copper knit dress with geometric patterns

Surprisingly it is still rather chilly here, still one needs a cardigan or a sweater and some people still go around in jackets though usually it is nice warm whether at this time of the year. So, here is my chance to wear this new knit dress in bright copper colour. Seems like this colour has been my personal favourite this season: I bought a coat, a sweater and a scarf in different shades of copper plus this dress.

Bomber jacket over maxi dress

Embroidered bomber worn over black maxi dress

It is still February on the calendar but it is already spring here: the days are warm and sunny and the peach tree in my yard is in full bloom. I'm wearing today a new bomber thrown over a black maxi dress. The jacket was recently gifted to me by my daughter who decided that I am a big fan of bombers, hehe. I do own two bombers but the reason I bought them was their hard-to-resist beautiful print. And though I am not a big fan of bombers I do love this new one too, and for the same reason - its beautifully embroidered pattern.

Casual Anarkali

Anarkali ensemble in green from Biba

Last April I wrote about our visit to Bhaktapur, one of the towns of the Kathmandu valley that was damaged the most during the big 2015 earthquake . Last Saturday we visited the town again. Have to say that now it looks somewhat worse: many of the survived but too much damaged temples were demolished after all, reconstruction works are about to start and there are bricks and polls, sand and cement everywhere that creates a picture of chaos.

Embroidered evening dress

Embroidered peacock black evening dress

Perhaps some of you remember the dress that I wore for the New Year Eve party, it was a black dress with a huge sparkling peacock embroidered on the front of it. And today is yet another peacock dress, haha...black as well but with less sparkle and with more peacocks...I saw it in the window of a boutique and those peacocks just stole my heart straight away...don't know why I am so weak for these birds. I have quite an impressive collection of peacock jewelry  and now it seems I have started a collection of dresses, haha...

Sparkling peacock party dress

New Year Party look

Happy New Year my dear friends and readers! May 2017 bring love, luck and happiness to all of you! According to Chinese horoscope this year is the year of the Rooster. I know, cock and peacock are not same thing but still, they ought to be related somehow. Perhaps, peacock is just a more fancy version of rooster, haha. Why am I talking about this? While choosing what to wear for a New Year party I came upon this dress decorated with a giant embroidered peacock. And I thought, well, it would be nice to welcome year of the cock in a dress depicting a pea-cock... Well, I guess I would wear this dress anyway be it year of the Dragon or any other because it is so beautiful and so sparkly...

Poncho over a layered dress

Layered dress with poncho over it

Another casual look today. A poncho over a layered dress. I have shown this poncho before and that time I wore it over a dress too, that was a knee-length knitted black dress. Today's dress is different: it is cotton, long with two layers and in polka dots. And to tell you honestly I find this variant much more interesting. The poncho creates another layer and its print mixed with those polka dots makes a really attractive combination.

70s vibe outfit

70s inspired look with fringed vest

Another autumn look with strong 70s vibe. I have already shown this faux suede fringed vest in my spring posts, worn with a dress and with skinnies that time. Once again I am wearing it over a (different) dress today accompanied with long boots and a hat. Mustard tights and a bag bring some brightness to the outfit.

Cute owls dress

Owls print mini dress worn over orange skinnies

Finally, autumn has arrived in Kathmandu too. But it is not windy, rainy and cold here. It is warm and sunny, really nice and pleasant weather. And everything is still green here but I'm wearing an outfit in traditional autumn colours today.

Indian princess outfit

Indian party outfit, skirt with long jacket over it in pink

It's been a long time since I posted an Indian party look. And as you know I do love dressing up for Indian parties. But then I spent three months visiting UK and Belarus and when I came back there was no parties at all - no season. Finally, today I can show you my new party dress and I consider it the prettiest dress I have ever owned so far. Well, actually it is not a dress but a skirt with a long kind of jacket worn over it. But it does look like a dress though.
