On Monday we were invited to the celebration of the 50th wedding anniversary of an Indian couple. That was the first time that I attended someone's Golden Wedding. What a great occasion! What a great achievement I would say! It is very touching to see two people who spent so many years together, through all the challenges, disappointments, battles, ups and downs that life brings. They looked happy and excited, a little bit confused of all the fuss and attention.
For the event I chose to wear a new Anarkali dress made by a Nepali designer. It is a rather simple dress, no much embellishment except for the beaded line at the top. But the fabric itself is very interesting, it looks different under different light which adds smartness to the dress. I made photos both outside under the day light, and inside with an artificial light. You can see the difference.
The green onyx necklace is in traditional Indian style, though the matching earrings are more of a Western candelabra design.
The sets of bangles are a mixture of purple, golden and green.
Have a nice day!

ReplyDeleteYou chose your dress and accessories carefully and you created a very balanced look. More glamorous than usually but you kept everything simple, too although all your ingrediants are luxurious. I would love to see this dress more casually styled. Can you come up of an outfit?

I love all the tones in this outfit from the greens to the purples to the gold. Both soothing and striking to the eye. 50 is quite a feat. My own parents will be celebrating 55 years this year!
ReplyDeleteMy husband always tells me how his parents had a great celebration for their 50 years of matriage...and I remember seeing one couple celebrating theirs in the same restaurant we celebrated my nephew's christening...it was so sweer seeing them.
ReplyDeleteYou look amazing in that dress...lovely necklaces to match.
A beautiful outfit! I enjoy westernized variations of this look myself and have a lime green salwar kameez that is one of my favorite evening looks. I live near Geneva, Switzerland and am fortunate to find great ethnic looks here since we have people from all over the world working for the UN and other international organizations.

ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful outfit - these are certainly your colors! I love the way you accessorized it and the way you did your hair. You look so charming! My parents have 50 years of their love this year, and the next one is their golden wedding too. The most important in all that is that they still love each other. This couple look loving too! xxx

ReplyDeleteWhat a heartwarming celebration! Congrats to the couple on their 50th anniversary. ๐ The mehendi on their hands is such a sweet touch, and the lady's elegant sari with the peacock border is stunning. ๐ I wore a simple Anarkali dress by a Nepali designer, and the fabric's play with light adds a nice touch. ๐ธ Cheers to many more years of love and happiness! ๐ฅ
