Winter casual: sweater and skirt outfits

mustard yellow sweater with tulle skirt outfit

Hello stylish ladies! Today I want to show you two casual winter outfits featuring one sweater and two different skirts. Pairing a sweater with a skirt instead of jeans or trousers looks way more interesting and feminine in my opinion.
The sweater in these outfits is of medium length what makes it easier to style than, say, long or short ones. The main reason I bought this sweater was its color, mustard yellow. I really love this color and it's not that you see a sweater in such color that often. Besides the color I liked the texture of the sweater, it's kind of like waffles and looks very interesting.

So, in the first look I combined the mustard sweater with a tulle skirt in green. The skirt is light and summery but I like the contrast of the heavier top and the lighter bottom together. Besides, it is really a shame to leave such a pretty skirt for wearing in summers only.

To add more interest to any sweater I usually wear a necklace. For this look I chose a beaded necklace in shades of green and yellow that suits the colors of the skirt and the sweater perfectly.

Did you know? The sweater first appeared as the jersey, in mid-19th. In early 1890s, turtleneck jerseys were introduced. Later a collar was added and the jersey was worn for golf and sports. In the 1920s, accepted by students and later widely adopted for general wear. At first only made of wool, washability was improved when new yarns (acrylic and nylon) came onto the market in the 1950s and 1960s.
In the second outfit, I wear the same sweater with yet another green skirt. But the green here is viridian green when in the first outfit it is Prussian green. Mustard yellow looks great with both these greens. Another difference is the skirt's fabric. This is a heavier knitwork skirt that would keep you warm on colder days.

For the second outfit I chose a different necklace, it is bigger and in the color matching that of the knit skirt. The chunkiness of the necklace nicely balances the heavier texture of this second skirt.

For both looks, I wore suede brown boots that are very comfortable and look pretty
